about

On the eve of releasing 2 new albums, Love, Care, Kindness & Hope (Spring 2024) and his A Break In Time - under his alias All Is Well on Compost/Drumpoet (November 2023), Fred Everything releases a surprise EP for the 100th release on his own Lazy Days. The tracks were written on the road in the summer of 2022 while in Europe and reworked in his studio in Montreal.

Zagreb I & II have been written in , you guessed it, Zagreb (Croatia). Using the same beat foundation, both tracks have their own musical identity. Zagreb I opens up with its unaplogetic piano and string hook, with plenty of sunshine melodies, reminiscent of the Croatian summers.

Zagreb II gets into a darker territory, with its driving dubby Basic Channel type sequence and surprises in the middle with a sense of hope and longing in the middle with the added chords and melodies. The light after the darkness, reminding us that “we’re all blessed, ‘cause we’re still here”, as the sample says.

The Quest was written during a 2 week stay with Atjazz in Derby where they wrote the core of their forthcoming album [Fall 2024 TBC]. This was meant to be the begining of one of their collaboration but was almost finished before the two could work on it together.
It has that bounce influenced by the golden era of Parisian Deep House (think Jabre/Gregory/Basenotic) with dreamy keys and jazz samples, with a contemplative message about one’s eternal quest in life.

“I’ve been trying to check myself out, check my mind out. What am I doing, where am I going. Hey, let me tell you something, you are thinking about where you should be going.”

Thanks for your support on this 100th release.
